There’s an evangelical movement in our country that seeks power & ascendancy above us all, which opposes the U.S. Constitution’s 1st Amendment stating Congress shall not establish a national religion, and granting us freedom to practice whichever religion we choose (at any given moment, and within legal bounds), and freedom FROM religion. You can start your church, but I don’t have to be a member, nor live by your ideologies. I recommend a fascinating book: “Jesus and John Wayne, How White Evangelicals Corrupted A Faith And Fractured A Nation”, authored by Kristin Kobes Du Mez, a Christian college history professor, contributor to Christianity Today, and author of “A New Gospel for Women”. She presents a 75-year history of white evangelicalism that seeks to “replace the Jesus of the Gospels with the idol of rugged masculinity & Christian nationalism”. She explains the role of culture in modern American evangelicalism, the merchandizing of movies, music, books & clothing that influences millions. Their values: “patriarchy, authoritarian rule, aggressive foreign policy, fear of Islam, opposition to BLM & LGBTQ communities, has transformed the faith with enduring consequences for us all”.

Reading her book will help us understand how someone like Donald J. Trump could be elected president, and why he & his ilk still hold significant sway over so many minds. No longer satisfied with home-schooling, there is a reanimated movement underway by evangelicals to expropriate public schools, remaking them in their image. This is a new/old paradigm being re-energized, colorfully-repackaged, and delivered to school-board meetings, city councils & legislatures. The political realm is swayed by their religiosity & brand of populism, but Democracy is indeed imperiled by their excessive supremacy-fervor. We, who would uphold our secular-democracy, can’t afford apathy in our ranks; WE MUST GET REVITALIZED, communicate our ideals, educate & VOTE like our lives depend on it!

Evangels may shout, “Make Jesus Great Again”, as if He has been emasculated, but He has NOT! Jesus is the same always, as is Truth! There is a definite relationship between modern evangelicalism, militarism, and American masculinity. Josh Hawley, Congressional GOP Rep, unveiled that sentiment in his statement, “men, after years of being told their manhood is the problem, they have withdrawn into an enclave of idleness, pornography & video games”. Is he laying the fault at the feet of feminine liberalism? Perhaps the pandemic could receive some onus. We are a warring species; appears that’s why President Biden’s approval rating plummeted after he ended our 20-year involvement in the Afghanistan war?

November is a challenging month, with planetary energies demanding that we “change, let go, and move with the shifting tides”. A new moon in Scorpio on Nov 4th, in opposition to Uranus, squared by Saturn in Aquarius, indicates our struggle with “the need to heal, let go, or transform an aspect of ourselves”, alongside the feeling of needing to cling to old beliefs concerning our sense of safety & security. Resisting the need to move on & grow creates much tension, and is best dealt with by using our conscious awareness. The second week, Mars opposing Uranus & squared by Saturn, is an explosive combination, increasing the probability “of angry outbursts and rebellious actions”, and dramatic clashes might be seen throughout the world. We can find ways to channel & redirect the power of tension & frustration into constructive actions & behaviors for our own & the common good. November offers us the opportunity to become more conscious of how we are using our power, and to explore the potentially destructive thoughts & self-destructive actions we entertain. Now is a time to take responsibility for our own thoughts, beliefs, emotions & actions, and ‘the causes’ to which we expend our energies; it’s also a time for healings, transmutations, resolutions & forgiveness. It’s a time to let go of old grievances & outworn systems. A lunar eclipse in Taurus on Nov 19th, could be illuminating & fairly cathartic”, though many could be triggered emotionally, as Jupiter squares the Sun, Moon and Mercury, with Pluto & Neptune forming beneficial aspects. With Mars still in opposition to Uranus, reckless & dramatic actions could occur, but the best use of these energies “is independence & fighting for the underdog”. We can make a real difference for the common good. What changes do we want to see in our world? The tension is great now, so practice patience, tolerance & forgiveness.

We can expect culture-wars to proliferate; right-wingers are energized, and we’ll see more Trumpkins elected to high office. The GOP will push their ‘parents bill of rights’ false-agenda in every Republican race, alongside their other big lies. This reminds me of the 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial, where parents sued high-school teacher, John Scopes, for possibly teaching the theory of evolution in Tennessee, which violated the Butler Act, making it unlawful to teach human-evolution in any state-funded school. The Fundamentalist-Modernist controversial case was seen as a trial on whether modern science & theistic-evolution could be taught in schools. The trial received much attention, as William Jennings Bryan argued for the prosecution, and Clarence Darrow was lawyer for the defense. Bryan vented that the purpose of the defense’s queries & arguments “were to cast ridicule on everybody who believes in the Bible”, to which Darrow retorted, “We have the purpose of preventing bigots and ignoramuses from controlling the education of the United States”. Upon review, it was determined the Butler Act, violated the provisions of the Tennessee Constitution that prohibited the establishment of a state religion; it was later repealed in 1967.

Parents railing against Critical Race Theory being taught to their children, is a false-flag agenda, as no elementary, middle or high school in America is teaching CRT; it is a law-school construct of systemic-racism inherent within our American caste-system, that is taught at university level. But investigating & discovering truth matters not to many involved in these culture-wars; they just want to emote with their beliefs, biases & fears. So those holding ideas of demonology closer to the breasts than spirituality, have fears they thrust into every avenue of our shared experience. They may be successful in ending Halloween parties in elementary classes, that have happily occurred for decades and contributed to schoolchildren’s best memories of camaraderie with their classmates; they may try to ensure that no ‘diversity trainings’ are taught to our junior & senior high-schoolers, that no upsetting history can be taught that will confuse or hurt snowflake-children’s feelings. They can parry about as they will, but as the noble Clarence Darrow faithfully declared, “There is never a duel with the truth!” The Truth eventually WINS OUT! However, we may endure many bloody-battles for some time yet to come. Staten Island, Nov 3, 2021, newscast showed an angry parent threatening that “townhalls & schools will be burned to the ground”, and the huge crowd of parents surrounding him heartily-cheered!

Have you wondered why the store-shelves are so sparse, and you can’t find what you want? The global supply-chain is breaking down at each turn and America is falling down. Derek Thompson, staff-writer at the Atlantic, wrote an interesting article, early in October on: “America is running out of everything; the Everything Shortage”. Some prescriptions are becoming sparse, paper products, car-parts, building supplies, even Covid-19 test kits. Tons of products are sitting in shipping-containers, stacked on barges in our harbors, and there’s a shortage of port-workers, trucks & truckers. Why? Several reasons: supply-chains have backorders for parts, vinyl for seats & resin to make roof-caps for trucks; many truckers retired, there’s been longtime recruitment issues, and lots of driving-school classes were cancelled due to Covid-19. The U.S. Dept. of Transportation reached out to the trucking industry, and now some schools around the nation are offering 4-week classes for truckdrivers. It’s estimated that the U.S. has a shortage of around 60,000 drivers. Supply-chains depend on containers, ports, railroads & trucks. Containers stacked in ports require dockworkers to unload & distribute products, and truckers to drive materials between warehouses and across the nation to stores. There’s also a scarcity of shipping-containers available. Pre-pandemic, reserving a mid-sized cargo-container cost $2500, now it costs $25,000. Econ 101 lesson: high demand plus limited supply equals soaring prices.

Then there’s the labor market; job openings abound, and employers struggle to keep businesses running & factories operating at full- capacity. It’s NOT about lazy, picky, greedy workers; that’s a false FOX talking-point. Over 700,000 Americans died of Covid-19, with over 40 million coronavirus-case survivors, many still suffering long-hauler symptoms. Many older employees retired completely, I did; and many parents can’t work because they can’t find daycare, which is extremely expensive! Hiring & training hundreds of thousands of new workers in a short window of time, during a pandemic, is very difficult; we should all expect to exercise more patience and understanding going forward. Delta-variant hit Asia hard, causing shutdowns at semi-conductor factories across Asia, just as demand for cars & electronics in America has spiked. We need LESS RELIANCE ON GOODS FROM CHINA! We need Biden’s Build Back Better plan approved, fully-funded & implemented, which HAD included billions of dollars to restore manufacturing in America, invest in basic research & development, clean energy, and to strengthen domestic supply-chains. The pandemic has changed a great many things & circumstances. This crises is an opportunity to emphasize a new philosophy of ‘supply-side progressivism’.
