LETTER TO THE EDITOR; 11/25/18 – 11/30/18 news

This happened 11/29/18:  Michael Cohen entered a guilty plea in federal court to lying to Congress about his work  on Trump-Tower Moscow project.  Felix Sater stated:  Trump Organization planned to give Putin the $50M penthouse in Trump Tower-Moscow, had it been built.  FBI raided the offices in Chicago of Trump’s former Tax attorney.  German police raided the business offices of Deutsche Bank on a  money-laundering probe.  President Donald Trump cancelled his scheduled meeting with Russian president Putin after the G20 Summit, using the excuse of Putin’s Sunday aggression against Ukraine.  A bi-partisan Senate vote 63-37 took place to move forward a resolution to end U.S. support for the Saudi-UAE war in Yemen;  the bill seeks to evoke a “powerful, but rarely activated provision in 1973 law — the War Powers Act — giving Congress the authority to overrule the president and withdraw troops if the former believes the conflict is not authorized”.   Trump could veto that resolution.

Several of those Senators voting “No” on the resolution received monies from pro-Saudi lobbying groups.  Saudis spent $24M in 2017 to influence U.S. policy and public opinion, and at least another $6M this year.  Since the 2015 Saudi-led invasion, 22 million Yemenis are starving, displaced and isolated, in need of humanitarian assistance, children perishing, no clean drinking water, 10,000 more cholera cases developing each week.

Republicans who have accepted Russian monies continue to protect Trump.  So much KOMPROMAT; the Selling Out of America is TREASONOUS!  This is what our founding fathers established corrective measures to resolve.  Manafort was double-dealing on plea-deal with Mueller, playing mole to Trump’s legal team; seeking to obtain a presidential pardon?  On 11/25/18 Russians seized 3 Ukrainian military vessels, arresting 24 crew members, subject to 60-day detention.  Putin is planning to deploy S-400 missiles to Crimea, to be operational by year’s end, bringing in nuclear-capable aircraft, missiles and military personnel, putting in danger the Black Sea region states, and NATO members under the threat of an attack.

Vladimir Putin sees himself in the lineage of great conquering Russian Czars, and Trump seems to be helping him weaken America and strengthen Russia.  Putin seeks to control Interpol.  The Russian candidate, Major General Alexander Prokupchuk,  appears on course to become the new president of Interpol, “an organization based in Paris, coordinates investigations made by the police forces of 190 member-countries, facilitates the exchange of information, helps track criminals who operate across national borders”.  Authoritarian regimes WILL seek more aggressively to go after political dissidents”.

U.S.-China conflict stagnating trade.  Crops rotting in our country, farmers suffering economic losses, as are many businesses.  SAD!
