The Cancel-culture states are revoking women’s rights to reproductive choice, with other states falling like dominoes, to the copycat laws. They are banning abortions, without exceptions, such as the life of the mother at risk, fetal-viability, or the pregnancy being the result of rape or incest. These states are going further, criminalizing abortion, threatening long prison sentences. Louisiana positing that “personhood begins at the moment of fertilization” and ending such is homicide! Holding females of all ages hostage to their physical reproductive systems, regardless of situation, is an abominable treatment, of the majority sex of our country, and WE shouldn’t stand for it! A recently leaked draft, written by Supreme Court Justice, Samuel Alito, signals that 5 Christian-nationalist SCOTUS Justices intend to overturn Roe V. Wade this year, making abortions federally illegal. The division is akin to the Civil War’s issue of slavery, that divided our nation; the issue being freedom & personal autonomy. Outlawing abortion enslaves females of all ages, to their physical anatomy & reproductive systems, regardless of rape & incest. Some GOP spokesmen go further in their war on women, seeking to restrict a woman’s right to contraceptives. Kansas & Nebraska have actually passed laws giving rapists parental rights! The GOP will take us back to the 1800s. The U.S. House passed the Women’s Health Protection Act, on 9/24/2021, along party lines 218 – 211, to counter Texas-style abortion bans. Senator Schumer held a vote to proceed, on 5/11/22, to federally codify Roe V. Wade into law, or to hold fellow senators politically accountable for their votes. The vote failed, as Manchin voted “NO”, with the entire GOP. Americans, at least 64 percent, want ‘Roe’ protected!
“Abortion is homicide”; we’ve heard plans from Texas Gov, Abbott, threatening investigations into miscarriages, putting women, going to emergency rooms, at risk for interrogations & charges. How far will they go with that? Can abortifacient-meds be discovered through blood-tests? Cellphone tracking for abortion-clinic destinations can be admissible-evidence. LGBTQ folks are afraid that the next push of others’ religiosities will be to revoke same-sex marriages, and workplace rights they’ve gained. Recently, a Southern GOP legislator, was seriously calling for revoking inter-racial marriages. How is all this possible? State legislatures matter, and so do the people you vote onto them. Get a copy of “Civics for Dummies” and learn how government works. Get out, and VOTE in the midterms & general election this year, and in EVERY election. “ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!” Reproductive rights are Human Rights; Civil rights are Human Rights! Vote for progressive candidates, who are FOR securing our rights, not revoking them!
