“If it walks like an asset and talks like an asset, maybe it’s an asset.” Stop compartmentalizing all that’s happened over the last 2 years; view the totality. From the beginning of Trump’s presidency, he has acted as if he wholeheartedly believed all that Putin had to say, while dismissing all our intel agencies’ assessments, which has evidence of Russia’s cyber-activities against the U.S. Trump told the world, in Helsinki, that Putin strongly denied to him that Russia was involved in those activities, and that “Russia was so good at cyber”, that they would NOT have been caught, had they been involved.
In campaign rhetoric Trump questioned why we needed NATO. White House officials have now stated that Trump has periodically proposed pulling the U.S. out of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, at which times Defense Secretary James Mattis would strategically change the subject. After Trump’s announcement of a hasty pull-out of troops from Syria, ‘Mad-dog Mattis’ resigned his position in rebuke of president Trump, who as ‘Putin’s Apprentice’, has sowed discord on a major scale in our country. If Trump actually moved to extract us from NATO, that would indeed fuel the Impeachment process exponentially.
NATO, a military alliance, is vitally important to American interests. “Most of the Western European partners operate at the highest technological level and have the best-trained troops in the world, outside of our own. They have superb weapons systems, very capable military leaders, and have fought alongside us in real combat, as in Afghanistan and elsewhere. NATO troops are engaged in the transnational threats we all face together. NATO is also exercising its collective defense structures by deterring Russia from further adventurism in Europe. Having now watched Vladimir Putin occupy parts of Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and annex Crimea, we should all realize that his greatest desire is to break apart the NATO alliance so that he can exercise even greater influence in Europe. Therefore the NATO exercises, training missions and deployments to the eastern border of the alliance are necessary in today’s world, keeping the peace in Europe, that the U.S. fought for twice in the 20th century.” (TIME/ James Stavridis/2016)
Putin is moving to deploy S-400 missiles to Crimea, nuclear-capable aircraft, missiles and military personnel, placing the Black Sea region states, and NATO members under the threat of attacks, (I reported Nov 2018). Vladimir has big geopolitical aims and goals. Trump has to step-up his nefarious obligations.
