What do you think of District 205’s proposed budget cuts to be voted on 1/17/17?

I agree with Dave Sharp on much, there seems to be a priority problem — the district needs teachers, assistants and programs before new building.    I have long said that we need a new paradigm in education — these cuts would only take us backward.  I agree that the earlier, formative years in schooling are essential building blocks.  The Bright Futures program helps prepare kids for elementary schooling, screens for learning disabilities, problems in socialization, recognizes those who need speech correction, and gets them on the right track early.  Elementary schools seem to do little enough helping with kids with ADHD, which was recognized at least 3 decades ago!  Putting kids on drugs for ADHD is not the only viable solution.  We need more teachers newly trained in helping kids learn differently.  Each grade builds on the previous ones; Reading and Math being essential subjects, and many have difficulties building on tenuous skills.  We don’t need charter schools.  We need the monies from the state that is designated to go to our schools, not kept back or spent elsewhere.  A wage freeze on ALL employees, for one year, if they accept that,  would help the district greatly, but “we the people” need to vote Bruce Rauner OUT at the next election because he is NOT helping Illinois!
