What location/facility do you think is best for the new community center in Galesburg?

I see no sense in the city  spending $298,140 for the former Nissan dealership property when the city already owns two of the proposed sites: the Public Safety building and the old National Guard Armory building.  The mayor  is forming a group to decide what features the new center should include.  It is commendable that Mayor Pritchard has offered to donate his Carriage House property (appraised at $257,000), if “his group” decides to choose it.  I agree with him that he should not profit from its sale to the city, as that would create a negative ethics issue, that he doesn’t need this early in his Mayoral term.  The former site of Turner Pharmacy would cost $85,000 and has very little parking space available.  I think the big Armory building would be the best facility, and has ample parking.  And maybe it could hold a semi-monthly function there, like Café in the Park, all year round.  With the city council already approving $285,000 in city funds for a bike path project along South Lake Storey Road, and considering between $360,000 and $430,000 for merely cosmetic improvements to East Main Street to beautify the “main entrance” to our burg, we should save money where we can.
